KENPOSURF earlier mentioned JEFF BECK

I could swear somewhere in my mp3 collection I have one of Jeff Beck doing a 'surf medley'

This ring a bell? I am not home now to check that out

Vague memorary that it includes WALK DONT RUN

Might be a live recording?

Someone have knowledge of this?

DAVID GILMOUR might sound cool, as he is so fluid

I also have this vinyl recording by PINK FLOYD member RICHARD WRIGHT that has some great instro trax on it

One in particular (again cannot research from where I am posting) - some tune with a title like DROP IN FROM...., DROP DOWN FROM....

killer track

Les Paul - even at 90 years old.

Oh dear lord... Nels Cline!

Nels Cline...with Mike Watt on bass and George Hurley on drums? That might be kindof cool! Maybe add one of the Secondmen on Hammond keyboard?

I'm not a big fan of three pieces. I was thinking more of Nels with Wilco or something like that. Jeff Tweedy is a pretty great guitarist on his own.

Junior Brown! http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=1oxhJW3Nv-o

I Googled Richard Wright

track, DROP IN FROM THE TOP

album, WET DREAM

wonderful, and Floyd-ish

Joe Gore and Marc Ribot would be very cool. I'd also like to hear Dave Tronzo surf it up with his slide!

Johnny Ramone playing surf would rock. I love that guy. Actually one of his inspirations was Dick Dale. And no, their version of Surfin' Bird doesn't count as surf for me. Speaking of surf and The Ramones, Mel Bergman along with Davie Allan have this project called the Ramonetures and they play Ramones songs, Ventures style, it's one of the greatest ideas ever, they're great.

Also Joe Strummer and Brian Setzer would kick ass, as well.

Allan Holdsworth. Actually I listen to him a lot before surfing and it gets me pumped.

Sound of the Surf, the movie

Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd (they go together). James Burton

Among the dearly departed: Jimmy Bryant, Paul Burlison, Jimmy Rivers.

Good question!

Tom Verlaine's come kinda close with some of his solo instrumental stuff.

-Warren

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

John Cipollina. He had a psychedelic whammy-heavy style that I like for the most part. He even wrote one instrumental called "Cobra" that I don't think sounds entirely un-surfy.

He also had a batshit insane amp setup including a Fender Twin Reverb and Dual Showman. . . and horns for some reason.8O

Leo Kottke, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Roger McGuinn

Those were just off the top of my head.

Matt

Fast Cars & Loud Guitars!

I am home, and I do have an mp3 supposedly by JEFF BECK, 'WALK DON'T RUN'

No idea if it actually him, or if it live or studio

Pretty cool though

Someone walk me thru how to post the mp3 in this post, and I will

McGuinn... nice. Stills, Neil Young, would be great in that band as well. Stills and young on dual lead and McGuinn being the glue on rhythm and 12 string.

I dunno.............he may have already done something like this .......Brian Setzer.

2012-2013: FILTHY POLAROIDS

Damn. I'm late to the party. Jake, you definitely hit mine right on. Nels Cline!! Worship
3 piece all the way. Just let that cat run rampant.

I'm also right there with you on Johnny Marr. That would be my second choice.

And yeah Bill, I'd also love to hear some of my fav jazz players take a shot. Kenny Burrell, Wes (can you imagine heavy reverb'd Wes octaves?), and Pat Martino.

Derek Trucks, Bill Frisell, David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Nils Lofgren.

Bob

Knopfler is another of my favorites although I've caught crap for liking him on this board. Amazing songwriter great guitarist. He gets lumped in with Clapton, SRV, and that ilk way too often. Knopfler is much more of a Chet Atkins, Hank Marvin type of player.
