Permalink "The Birth of Surf": Import Surf Compilation CD

New Topic

I found this in the Collector's Choice Music catalogue.

Newly compiled by 'Pipeline Magazine', this 26-track set traces the evolution of surf music from its rock ’n’ roll roots through the minor surf hits all the way to the big wave that crested in 1963 on the charts! Includes the ORIGINAL hit single version of the Surfaris’ 'Wipe Out' (not the earlier, unedited version that’s on most comps); the first-time-on-CD rarities 'Earthquake' by Aki Aleong & the Nobles and 'Latin Soul' by the Original Surfaris, plus 'Ramrod' Duane Eddy; 'Bustin’ Surfboards' Tornadoes; 'Miserlou' Dick Dale & the Del-Tones; 'Baja' Astronauts; 'Penetration' Pyramids; 'Mr. Moto' Belairs; 'Pipeline' Chantays; 'Surf Rider' Lively Ones; 'Squad Car' Eddie & the Showmen; 'Bulldog' Fireballs; 'Crossfire' Johnny & the Hurricanes; 'Beaver Patrol' Blazers; 'Fiberglass Jungle' Crossfires; 'El Toro' Surfmen, and more.

I imagine that many members here already have most of these tracks, but for those who don't, consider it a poor man's Cowabunga surf box.

There are so many comps out there with almost the same tracks I did noticed that Collector's version has 52 tracks and I did see a while back that Amazon has the same comp but with less tracks?
The Birth Of Surf @ Amazon.com 26 tracks not 52 tracks

The CD has 26 tracks. Whoever put together Collectors' Choice track list also managed to include the artists as stand alone tracks... and therefore came up with a total of 52.

Silly of them to do that? they should have done it to the side of the track title.
