I wish that worked for PS2 games. That's cool though, Bill. Haven't played NES in a long time. Actually, after playing Madden '08 with my cousins last night, I was longing for the days of Tecmo Bowl. |

Ha, I dusted off tecmo bowl last night. All I need is Walter Payton and the bears two running plays and I can beat anyone, anywhere, anytime. —"as he stepped into the stealthy night air... little did he know the fire escape was not there" https://www.facebook.com/reluctantaquanauts/ |

That's like Randall Cunningham (or QB Eagles, whatever) in Tecmo Super Bowl. He was like pre-dog trial Michael Vick on meth, but with the ability to actually complete passes. Apologies to Ferenc for completely trainwrecking his thread. Now, getting even further off-topic, where's the love for this little guy?

Yeah, Mega Man is classic. This is almost the same game, but you're a duck instead of a robot! Sorry for the derailing! "as he stepped into the stealthy night air... little did he know the fire escape was not there" https://www.facebook.com/reluctantaquanauts/ |

We interrupt your vintage game console discussion for a return to the original theme of the thread. I got a LOT of great stuff this year (must have been a very good boy), a lot of clothes, etc., but I think the coolest gifts I got are the following DVDs:
The first one has 14 documentaries on 6 discs - oh YEAH!!! I LOVE this program, absolutely nuts about it. Now if I could only find the time to watch all this.... Ivan —Ivan |

I wish I could have written the Rome episode for Engineering an Empire. I think they missed out on a major point. Seeing as how the title has two meanings and the meaning I find to be most important historically is how empire was engineered and held together despite it being an anti-Roman value. So, I would have liked to have seen more of an emphasis on why certain buildings were built politically. Of course they glossed over very important buildings that are not as majestic as Pantheon or Colosseum. It is easy to complain. I guess I'm saying I wanted a 40 hour episode of this show. |

Yeah, I can understand that, Jake. It's obviously very compressed and they by the very nature of it must leave huge chunks out. But it's still incredibly well done, I think. And Peter Weller is a trip. Ivan —Ivan |

Totally. I was enthralled by it. I think it first aired just before I started with my Latin and Roman studies. I had already knew that was going to be my collegiate passion. I remember there being a Rome week or something like that. I watched each episode a couple times thanks to repeats. |

Santy Claus brought me a DA5, and I LOVE it. Far better guitar tones than I would expect out of an amp this size, and a great range of volume. The reverb is not awful (far better than the built-in reverbs on some other amps, especially my Marshall AVT275) and the other effects are quite good. I've been doing my best Ventures, Chantays, SRV, David Gilmour, Luther Perkins impressions all day. Also got the Crossroads Festival 2007 and HELP! DVDs. —Swing! Twang! Shake! Twist! |

I got this cool little Crosley portable turntable - It's great fun to listen to all my cool old vinyl - and it sounds vintage too. it's more fun listening to LP's on this than to listen to them on the good stereo. It's sounds good, but in a cheap kinda way. sometimes cheap sounds good too! I listened to the Surfaris Hit City '65 Lp today - I really like Ron Wilson's vocals. I think I'm going to take it to work, and each day I'm going to torture the guys at the bike shop with a vintage surf LP! —"You can't tell where you're going if you don't know where you've been" Last edited: Dec 28, 2007 14:29:27 |
