I think it's very cool we have two members from Norway. I was wondering if they, or anyone, knew the status of The Beat Tornados? I was really blown away by their Mission to Mir CD. They are (were? ) a fantastic band. Their website went 404 a while back, and I fear for the worst....
Ivan did a great interview with them in The Continental #12.
Are there any other surf bands (or related genre) from Norway?

Hey Brian,
The Beat Tornados is still an active band. I haven't seen a full concert with them in a while, but around three-four weeks ago there was arranged a Link Wray-tributeshow, in which thirteen guitarists played a couple of Link-songs each. The Beat Tornados was the backing band for this occasion, and they also played some own material there.
I was one of the thirteen people on stage and I played Branded and Scatter for that occasion.
Also happening this night was the return of KÃ¥re & the Cavemen/ Euroboys who haven't played this material for about ten years. They sounded as good as ever, and it was good to see them back even if it was for a one-time-only occasion.
The club was actually packed this night, probably mostly due to the Cavemen, but it was a cool happening altogether.
The arranger for this show made a recording, and he thought it sounded so good that he thought about releasing it, even though this was still not for sure. We'll see.

We also had a Link Wray tribute in Stockholm earlier this year, featuring Robert Johnson & the Punchdrunks, the Nomads, the Hives, the Barbwires, the Ramblers and the Pipelines. I wasn't there myself but looking at the video, all the different guitar players got up on stage together for the final.

Anyone know where to pick up the "Mission to Mir" CD. I have Scandanavian Interlude and have been trying to find MTM for quite a while.

Hey, everybody.
A late reply, but I just saw this post.
As Wavy said, The Beat Tornados are still active. I think their website is being tuned.
For those who are interested in norwegian surf bands, you also have Los Plantronics. http://www.los-plantronics.com/
They look at the more mexican side of things.
I also must mention the so called "Shadow-bands" of the 60's, like The Vanguards and The Beatniks. A lot of good instrumentals there, and A LOT of bands. Very melodic. They can be found on some obscure compilations. Very hard to come by in the States I would believe. You might want to check the net.
As for the Mission to Mir-album, I'm not sure how to get it in the States, but I keep seeing it on record-swaps in the fold out LP-version over here.

I'm pretty sure it's out of print, unfortunately--I ended up having to get the LP version, and that was a year or so ago.
