Cool--what's the book like?

Cool--what's the book like?

Well, I just got it, but its basically a collection of first hand accounts from various people telling their stories about a world war against zombies. Basically a George Romero film meets War of the Worlds. Its really pretty creative. So far its a great read!

World War Z is very surprisingly good fiction...I have always been a fan of The Zombie Survival Guide (I have a copy stashed with my zombie survival kit) but I was totally blown away by the history he created and all the individual stories to go along with it. I recommend it.

I'm reading The Bourne Identity for the second time. I had forgotten it, having seen the movie so many times. It's really pretty different.

That sounds awesome. I'll check it out for sure.

I just bought Orwell's Animal Farm and 1984. I've read both of them several times before, but never owned either one. So, when I found both in one book, I decided to spring for it.

I'll probably wait to read it, though, until I finish the one I'm working on now--The Missionary Position: Mother Teresa in Theory and Practice by Christopher Hitchens. I've really gotten into his stuff lately. Letters to a Young Contrarian is also on my to read list.

Just finished The Dark Tower series by Steven King. It only took me like 6 years...
Then Cycle of the Werewolf...
Now I'm reading Different Seasons...
I think I see a pattern.

Bob "I no read good" Bitchin'

i just finished 'waste lands' and am reading 'desperation' before continuing on with the 'dark tower' series.

Well, Ivan, I think Bruce Caldwell is highly overrated. Rolling Eyes

seriously, biographies are a great read!

I'm reading Koko by Peter Straub and checking out some Renaissance period art books that I just picked up at the college library.

I've heard of John Tropea. I played his records on the local jazz station in the '80s.

I'm reading "Zen Guitar" by Philip Toshio Sudo, "Fluke" by Christopher Moore, and "Grand Obsession: Harvey Butchart and the Exploration of the Grand Canyon" by Butler and Myers. Needless to say, it takes me a long time to finish any one book because I read so many at once.

I finished Deathly Hallows in one sitting the other night. My third time reading it.

I've read a lot of books but... those Potter books are special from a standpoint of character development and humanity.

I read the 1st one. Always intend on reading the rest, but then I see the movie and move the books down in priority.

One of my cohorts at school gave me this one for Christmas:

"Coffee with the Buddha"
image
It's an okay book: sort of like a "What Would Buddha Do" conversational format...
...the foreword by Annie Lennox (of the Eurythmics) is interesting enough...
you know coffee is cool; Buddha is cool...it's all cool

"Think Big and Kick Ass" by Donald Trump.

The movies can't touch the books, in my opinion. They're pretty entertaining, but they leave so much cool stuff out.

That series contains probably the coolest books I've ever read, especially the last three. Like Jake said, the character development is awesome, and you really get involved in the story as a whole. It's very easy to read an entire Harry potter book in one sitting. Hell, when I started the last one, I had gotten home from work and cracked it open before I went to bed. A few hours later, I realized that I was still reading, and that I was halfway finished with it.

Cool, I'm definitely going to get to them soon. After God Emperor of Dune though Wink
