Very sad Freddie, unfortunately it's not just restricted to the U.S., it seems to be in a whole lot of other 'nice' places as well.

This is starting to sound like a fairy tale, but once upon a time, people like that would've been pulled up long before it got to the point of somebody being killed, at least I like to think so.

Too many do gooders letting mean a-holes go on and on instead of getting a good clip around the ear hole and a size 12 up the a& while they were a bit younger and pulled into line by their elders.

Now you can no longer touch them for fear of being sued, where as once upon a time it was the young who were afraid because any adult or elder had the potential to bring them into line, and would be thanked for it by the parents. (mostly).

I'm a feared for the future sometimes.

Music is the great leveler, calms the soul and is great fun.

</rant>Sorry for the rave.

not a rant, not at all

the planet on so many levels is completely upside down

I read this, and it hurt me, terribly

one of the things I still want to do is SURF, catch a wave.....

and how cool is this?

the guy that's gonna teach me, God willing, is 'Shifty'

a/k/a THE SURFING RABBI

check his website, www.surfingrabbi.com

one of the sweetest, most gentlest souls I have ever met

I also have to learn to play 'surf music' - can noodle around somewhat, I have a great old amp (60's vintage Univox, one speaker, Italian made, I think?)

also still have a guitar from my youth (though not a 'surf guitar', pretty cool nonetheless) - Vox Super Lynx Deluxe (made it Italy, the pick-ups are awful, almost like a microphone)....maybe I should post something in the regular forum and ask for help with how to 'modernize' it?

appreciate your commenting on this

What I meant to say and should have to clarify things a bit Freddie is this.

In my neck of the woods in this past year alone, 2 young blokes with every thing going for them have been beaten to death, read that as set upon by a group and kicked and punched till they were dead.

In both cases the perpetrators are well known to the police, have been involved with stand over and intimidation tactics for quite a bit of their young and useless lives and nothing, nada, zip has or will be done about them due 'insufficient evidence'.

I have 3 teenagers still living at home ranging from 16 to 20 and I worry every time they go out on a weekend with friends. I suppose I'm just plain frightened about what may or could happen instead of maybe going out and doing 'something' about it.

The 'what' is the big question though.

Oh yeah and this question springs to mind as well.

There's surf in New York City? Shocked

EDDIE?

anyway, that is some heavy stuff U have been posting....

makes one think, for sure

surf in NYC?

I got a buzz goin' on every first Saturday of the month at OTTO's SHRUNKEN HEAD -- next one is Jan 5, my birthday

Okay, fixed the name thing Freddie, sorry about that, it's because we have a comedian over this way who goes by the name - Steady Eddie, I think that got kind of stuck in my head.

I usually don't or want to post stuff that's heavy, this place is a nice area to escape from all that and perhaps shouldn't be muddied up with thoughts like those I posted.

I shall try restraint.

Cheers

Bruce
