I once read Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman. Interesting book. Now I'm reading one called The Spear by James Herbert, does anyone know this guy? It's been a pretty good book so far. It's kinda spooky Twisted Evil

I first read "The Big Drop" by John Long about 3 years ago and it's still one of my favorites to pick-up in the "reading" room.

This book is a compilation of "big wave surfing" short stories and articles written by or about famous surfers, from the "Death of Dickie Cross" in 1943 through and beyond "Death of a Legend" Mark Foo in 1994. The stories start with the early boards and surfers in Hawaii and progress through the tow in surfers at outer reefs with Laird Hamilton, Ken Bradshaw and others in Hawaii, Mavericks and Todos Santos. A must read for those interested in the historyof surfing or just for inspiration and learning the lingo.

Mr. Green,
Klosterman is one of my heroes. I'll be interested to see what happens with his new book --- it will be his first publication that is supposed to be 100% fictional.

And I've been reading "Guards, Guards," "Men at Arms" and "Jingo," from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. I absolutely hated the first, "The Color of Magic," but have really enjoyed the ones about Sam Vimes and the Night Watch.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame (I'm bloody serious)

Matter is just energy waiting to happen.

I picked up Elliott Smith by Autumn de Wilde. Really amazing book full of pictures and recollections about Elliott's life.

And The Death of Ivan Illych by Tolstoy.

"Effects of acute temperature and thermal acclimation on aquatic and terrestrial locomotor performance of the three-lined salamander, Eurycea guttolineata"

Interesting stuff. Right? RIGHT? Wait, where are you all going? Dead Thread

Sounds like quite the read, Wooza. I hope you do realize that Eurycea lucifuga could totally kick Eurycea guttolineata's ass, though.

Don't believe me? Ask SCIENCE.

My Varanus komodoensis could eat your Eurycea lucifuga and Eurycea guttolineata and not even know it.

Matter is just energy waiting to happen.

Wow, and I thought I was a geek!

Hmmm

I really enjoyed this. It's my first Erik Larson book, he really has a way with nonfiction. Good read!
