The Buts( Halibuts) as some call them. Did 2 sets Sat. night to my
suprise. I had heard it was only going to be one. Good thing it was
2 as some people got there as the 1st set was ending.
They sounded excellent, definetly on fire.
They did a bunch of older songs off the "Live at Toes" cd, and
then also some tracks off their 90's cd's and of course some
killer covers of Classic 60's surf songs, Done up Halibut
style like only they can. Surf/ska mix.
Hard to tell they hadn't played in a year. Hope they do more shows
this summer, but at least keep up the once a year re-union
show....
Pete (guitarist of the Halibuts)also did a spectacular job fillin
in on Drums with the Torquays earlier in the day. Really going to
town on the tubs, and I was just awe struck. I had seen him play
drums before, but yesterday was just over the top. Maybe it was
because they were playing in a Brick Gymnasium, and the drums just
sounded so Killer in there. Plus the guitars sounded, extra wet and
drippy bouncing off the walls and floor.
