Aloha Everyone,
Chineese Doorknob was done when we were juniors in High School. It was on a vinyl covered metal disk used for demos in the olden days. We took it around to all the recording studios without any luck. I recall that one of the studios had an office on the second floor. On our way up we passed a guy who bore a strong likeness to Chubby Checker sweeping the stairs. We joked about not wanting to sign with that company if we had to do manual labor in return.
I recently checked the mp3 file with a tuned guitar, and found the recording was still in Em. I didn't realize I could ever play that fast.

Wow, now we have 9 entries!
It's always interesting that lurkers come out of the woodwork and enter this. For example, Ron, tell us more about your song Chinese Doorknob. Recorded in 1963 is your only description?
Link doesn't work Brian, says entering 'restricted' area.

These are great riffs/songs, you blokes are doing great, Billy, I like the slow number and Ron, in another time and place, your song may very well have charted, reminds me of the Beach Boys (no slight intended) I just hear a melody line running through it with lots of ooohs and ahhhs harmonised.
Excellent stuff, keep them coming.

I have a good idea.
To improve overall impression of compilation its better to do some mastering (equalize levels and tonal balance of tracks).
Now its unconvenient to listen tracks as its nesessary to tune volume at begining of every track.
PS. i can do it as i have equipment and some experience

...it's good that there will be no lo-fi bitrates this year, and it would be great if someone had the time to normalize the levels, i know my track needs a bit of help.
ps.. just got back from 'Surfers Paradise' on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia...the surf was pretty flat but still, life in the tropics was fine indeed.
all the best

Just a little notice that I posted a new TomorrowMen song on the comp. page - Debussy's Claire de Lune . This is a demo I made that I had Tony dubbed the drums over my drum machine. Recorded hastily with an SM57, but really not too bad. I like how the snare is a bit washed out and the crashes reverberate - More Reverb Tony!!!
Look forward to a professional recording of this next year.

Right now it's finals week for me, but I think I'm still gonna try and make a frantic last-second drive to submit something. I've avoided trying to promise a submission, but now I figure if I bring it up then people will expect it of me... and now I'll be socially obligated to get my act together. I hope some other people will submit stuff too. The more songs the merrier with these comps, I think.

I'm still working on something, hope to have it done by the deadline. I know, I said that last year too.
