Permalink Transistor Royale: Debut Show

New Topic

We will be debuting the new band on Saturday, December 8 at the Cactus Club in Milwaukee. It will be loose and raw, but I am super stoked about it. It's my first time performing Surf/Instro on guitar. Thank God I'm playing mostly rhythm.

I know that there are very few people here from our region, but here are the details anyway:

December, 8 2007 at The Cactus Club
2496 S. Wentworth, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53208
Cost : 6.00 10 pm

Transistor Royale opening for The Nice Outfit and Jack Raasch.

Good luck and have fun! Do you have anything recorded that I could check out?

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. We only started working on the new band at the end of summer. The members are guys that I've worked with in the Exotics and the Nelsonics and a couple of new guys from the late Dick Satan Trio. The Exotics and the Nelsonics have recordings out, but Transistor Royale does not at this point.
We do have some original material and recording is definately a goal in 2008.

The challenge has been trying to find a handful of covers that we haven't beaten to death in our previous bands. It's always nice to have a foundation of covers when you're just getting started.

I've been playing surf/instro on bass for 15 years now so switching to guitar has been a blast for me. It never even dawned on me to play guitar until a couple of years ago.

I will post the set list and maybe some photos next week.

thanks again,
Jon

Have a great gig!

See if you can get someone to shoot video, too.
We (the Aquatudes) had our first show a couple of weeks ago and my son set up the camera on a tripod and got the whole set. It's been helpful to review and see where any mistakes were, and what worked well, too! Even though we've all been playing in other bands for years, there are still unknowns as well as good surprises with a new combo, as I'm sure you well know. May as well document it all.

The big show is tonight. Polished up the Jazzmaster and am deciding what to bring for a backup. I have a mild case of the butterfies, which hasn't happened in years. It's a good feeling.
Here is the setlist for tonight:

Bikini Drag: The Pyramids
Movin': Eddie and the Showmen/The Astronuats
Scratchy: Travis Wammack
Jump Jive and Harmonize: Thee Midniters

Teh Lonely Bull: Herb Alpert

The Hearse: The Astronauts
Party In Laguna: The Ventures
Surf Burglar: Original
