I just thought My Bloody Valentine was a surf band. Not visually, despite the nice offsets, but aurally. For about 20 seconds I thought this.

It is amazing how important they remain despite their very small discography. I really like to commute to Loveless. |

Well, they were really revolutionary and influential for a few years. They spawned a whole genre, and many big producers and bands, both in rock and dance/techno ripped them off. Jake, did you know that there is a NEW MBV album coming out next year?!!! The band is reuniting and they'll finally finish up all the recordings they were working on between '92 and '96 or whenever they broke up. The news came out about two weeks ago: Pitchfork on the new MBV album Whoo-whoo! Ivan |

Yeah, I heard about that. They are playing three gigs in the UK as well. I'm guessing they'll make it stateside for one of our big festivals. Coldplay's next album is supposed to be a "shoegazing" album. |

Yeah MBV's Loveless was such a great record. They really painted soundscapes as opposed to banging out pop tunes. I only really started to appreciate them after I became obsessed with Sonic Youth. —Ryan |

Define "shoegazing" is it something like, introspective? or just crap? |

first off. coldplay needs to end their reign of terror. and shoegazing. well, used to mean tap-dancing over tons of pedals with walls of feedback, reverb, echo, and swirly vibratoed madness. now it seems like a buzz word. really, when coldplay is doing a shoegaze record... ugh. but i guess it's because they're trying to get Brian Eno, ambient-dude-extraordinaire to produce or something. |

Meh. Wake me up when they try their hand at grindcore. -Warren —That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it. |

Thanks, it's hard to keep up with all these abbreviations/sayings these days. |

I'm not afraid to admit I enjoy Coldplay. Not all of their songs do it for me but I can think of three songs that I think are above and beyond what most any bands are able of producing. I am not liking the idea of their new album. |

nobody will probably believe me, or they will think I'm insane but I like a few coldplay songs too. I just lost some friends. Jeff(bigtikidude) —Jeff(bigtikidude) |
