Jeff, I love bagpipe music.

Dylan's lyrical matter was essentially the folk style of Woody Guthrie and Jimmy Rodgers when he first began.

Like I said before, its not his Lyrics that i find horrible its his tone, lack of singing technique.

saying that Dylan is Great is like saying that
A fender Strat is Great, some will agree and some won't

I don't agree that Dylan was great.

I stand by my original point.

Great lyrics( if you are into that type of thing)
mediocre music, and musicianship,
and horrible vocal skills/tone.

But everyone has terrible voice skills compared to a trained choral singer.

It is my opinion, unimportant and thought of on the spot, that there is nothing finer than a well sung version of Ave Maria.

and I was in a Concert (50 member) Chamber(20 member) choirs in High school, so I think I know what I am talking about.

bringing it back to Bon Scott ( sorry Danny)
although I can appreciate rough gravelly singing voice also.

Dylan sounded more like he was talking thru songs.

I can deal with the hipster dancing to the Remains, but dude, -1,000 on the Boston.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Rad! A Bon Scott vs. Dylan thread.
My take on Dylan is the dude was one hell of a songwriter. Original voice. Some of his tunes (One more cup of coffee and all of Blood on the Tracks) kill me.

Bon Scott is one of my all-time heroes of the hard rock age. Just ballsy blues in yer gut goodness. Ride On from 'Dirty Deeds' is an atypical AC/DC tune (slow blues) but probably my favorite.

um I don't think so,
it doesn't look or sound like him.
I mean look vaguely, but not 100%

But of course I could be wrong,
but don't think so.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Oh yes, it's Bon Scott alright, and I remember the words to that song quite well Shocked

Bon did a lot of work before he landed with Ac/Dc, another thing I noticed about The Valentines was how many of their tunes were written by Vanda/Young.

That's Harry Vanda & George Young of the Easybeats fame, some of the older guys here might remember the Easybeats with hits like -

Friday On My Mind
She's So Fine
I'll Make You Happy
Wedding Ring

and many others.

Anyway, the connection is George Young, older brother and mentor of Malcolm and Angus Young who helped the boys kick things along for quite a good many years.

And on a note about Bon, he was the sound of Ac/Dc, they were never the same IMO after he died just as INXS will never capture the magic they had with Michael Hutchence as their lead singer.

I'll take the Easybeats over AC/DC or Dylan any day! Just check out this wild live take of She's So Fine.

Cool, thanks Klas, it's like a walk down memory lane, the songs of when I was young. Very Happy

Next time you have your Showman and reverb cranked, play the opening riff of Riff Raff. Mmmmm....

this thread ties together perfecly:

vocalwise, Bon Scott is nothing but Bob Dylan massivly overstretching his voice. what ACDC's got going for them was a guitarist that played good R&R solos because he lacked technique and speed compared to his contemporaries, and about three good songs. I liked the Valentines better.

Bob Dylan was (!) a genius, whether you like him or not, and I second Jake if you're talking Schubert's Ave Maria, and not Bach's orthis one

all imio o.c. Very Happy
