Google mail rocks. No doubt about it. But watch out for this. So last night I went to type a short email to my mom. I start typing Mar in the "To" box because her name is Marilyn, and google mail "auto-completes" the name based on your address book and automatically fills in the rest. But either I goofed or something went wrong and I ended up sending an email to Mark XXXXX, a guy I work with. Luckily it wasn't a very personal message. But I was in a hurry and didn't notice. Needless to say I was very embarrassed today at work.

Hope everyone else is having a better day.

Been there.
I have a co-worker in Germany who I've exchanged a couple personal emails with. Now I end up sending him business emails at home about half the time.

when a colleague of mine took over organizing the monthly meetings of our ressearchgroup, he sent me a massage about how to order the coffee and tea for the meeting. SO I replied to his mail, saying that he should ask the secretary to do it, BUT, as I wrote, "check after a week and ask her if she's done it, repeatedly, cause she almost always screws up on simple tasks like this, and you really need to keep an eye on her or everything goes to hell"
So I hit send, and only then I see, my colleague had sent the mail to our secretary, who had forwarded it to me.

Talk about auto completion, what about the setting on your phone for text messages that does that, I am a complete loss to make that one work for me, my kids and my wife all think it's brilliant.

Once applying for a job I wanted to send a test from home to home. The autocomplete put in my dayjob (freelance however) adress.
I realizied immediately afterwards
and knew there was going to be questions the next day.
But I got the new job.

I have a friend who recently bought a jaguar and inquired of me where to get it set up professionally. I use a guy in San Francisco who's pricey but does a great job, stands by his work, has at least 4 employees and his sheer volume of work speaks for itself. So my friend takes my advice and brings it in, then when picking it up he found that he was not very satisfied with the job, among the reasons he felt there was a blemish on the finish that wasn't there prior. I emailed the owner telling him that I recommended him and the job was unsatisfactory, so of course he said to have him come back in with the guitar. He did so, dealt with the shop mgr who was very helpful and took my friends email so as to notify him as soon as it's done.
Later that day my friend does get an email from the shop, simply saying "F*ck You". Well you can imagine how infuriating that was, he was livid. Finally another email arrived later apologizing profusely. Turns out the boys in the shop were emailing each other, but somehow his email got mixed in. It was only because he had prior problems that he jumped to the conclusion the email was serious. Eventually he was satisfied with the work and we're all happy now. whew.

I've done worse. I've accidentally sent e-mail to myself. Talk about "being asleep at the wheel."

And how many times did I forget to actually attach the file I was talking about to the mail itself?
My "sorry, forgot the attachment" mails must be in hudreds :).

Yep, been there. So Man, there's nothing that will make you run faster down the hall to somebody's cubicle than a nuclear email misfire!

I don't use "auto-complete". What's missing, I think, is an "auto-start" feature to go with it! I can only imagine all the things I would get done...

But how long does it take for you to realize your mistake? I usually don't realize it, until I get a reply..."what attachment?"
