Taking a vacation trip Oct 27 to Nov 3 to a Maderia Beach condo in Tampa/St. Pete area. Any good surfing jam bars/clubs venues in that locale?
Gulf coast surf guitar...gotta be somthing there.
Any web sites with info?
Thanks a bunch.

If you get anywhere near Ft. Lauderdale go to the Mai Kai resturaunt.
sometimes they have surf bands play there.
but they also have a great Hawaiian review , so I hear.

Ft Lauderdale is about 400 miles away for me...next time. Thanks.
There is a Rockabilly/Psychobilly show w/ Horton Heat, Nashville Pus*y and Hank III at the Janus theater. Might be worth a look.
Kowa-kickass-abunga-redneckin'-jam...
The Hodaddys are playing in St Pete's Nov. 24 & Dec 14...I won't be there during that time...dang-it-all.
Maybe I'll bring my own rig and play on the beach with wifey.. lololol...or just play with wifey on the beach....

The Haole Kats are from Tampa. But they're playing in Ft. Lauderdale that week.

I don't know if you're checking in while your down there, but one of my favorite dive bars is "The Tiny Tap Tavern" on the edge of Hyde Park off Morrison. No bands (it's tiny after all) but interesting people and cheap beer. It's been a few years since I've had the opportunity to go by there.

man, for some reason tampa hasnt been too great for surf. i spent years trying to start surf bands there.
there is a band from the area, or at least there was, called the vodkanauts. i saw them in a few incarnations and they used to do a set of surf, then some jazzy, loungy, early r&b.

They seem to have (or had) a pretty big Rock-a-billy scene there which usually meshes with surf pretty well.
We went to an all day rock-a-billy fest a few years ago and they had Los Straitjackets headlining. Big show, very well recieved.
