I've recently found a fantastic progression from C major to F minor. ~B~ |

you know what? after some serious soul-searching and consternation, I think I need to readjust my position on this issue. After all this thought and turmoil, I believe I've found the ultimate chord: |

Me too. It's become so habitual that it's the only way I play an open G. Now, keep your 4th & 5th fingers on the D & G, move fingers 2 & 3 across to the 5th & 4th strings (same finger positions and the 6th & 5th strings) and then also move them to the 4th & 3rd strings (keeping that open G fingering all throughout) Keep moving back 'n forth across the strings. Rough tab as follows: Eâ3--------------------3----/â3-------------------3----/ The strumming pattern is up to you. It's not surf, more like C & W or rock. |

Great to see so many opinions as to favourite chords. I like the open Am myself it seems to be the foundation of many tunes I play, but found myself trying some of the suggested chords over the weekend. i'll have to try the Gm aj suggested by Surfgitar. |
