so i got a litle surf band put together and we want to name it but we're having a hard time with names, some of the stuff we're really into is UFOS, Life in other planets, 2012, Day of the dead (Dia De los muertos), cheesy B horror movies, and a bunch of other stuff. i really can't decide sometimes every decent name we come up with sounds cheesy or someone already has it. if anyone reading this could help us out by suggesting some names that would be good, we might or might not use one them but if we do end up using one of them we will forever be gratefull! thanks.

Seems to me that you already have your name. Simply reread your own post.

you have actually listed four possibilities for a name
dia de los muertos
day of the dead
life on another planet
cheesy B or the cheesy b's

Mr_Reverb63...
I agree with the other posters. Look at your post.
I like <u>'2012'</u> for a name. It doesn't sound surfy, but neither do a lot of the others.
It could be twenty12, or twentytwelve, or twenty twelve, Or just 2012.

What about "2112"? Your logo could have a naked dude and a star...oh wait.

It'll still work so long as they inhale a few helium balloons before singing.
On a serious note, I'd not only steer clear of names involving 'surf,' but also numbers - and especially names comprised entirely of numbers.
Maybe take your name from a song title on one of these albums:
-Warren
— That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

Just curious as to why you think this? Is it taboo or is it some inside info?
Truely, just curious.

i'm trying to convince the band i just joined to drop the word 'surf' out of the band name. it's just cheese-ball. phantom surfers is kinda cool. old bands can get away with it.

i was thinking of " Los Muertos" and i had this other idea of "The Spring tones" but eh springtones makes it sound like only the guitar is the only good thing in the band or somethin which is not! plus i really DO want to stay away form anything to do with actual surf and water related stuff, no offense to those who have names like that though. i dont know! so hard to choose!any other names i should consider!? not only relating to the stuff we're into but just cool names and stuff ya know.

I don't know. I kind of like "Dr. Strangesurf" from the old surf movie of that name.

You'll realize the value of this advice when you start trying to book gigs in towns with no surf "scene".

How about 'The Rolling Stones'? I think that name has a certain something to it; I mean, I can just imagine crowds of people coming to see your show with that name on the marquee.

about fame of names "The Rolling Stones" and "Mosrite"
i think about 50% of population of earth heard name "The Rolling Stones"
and may be 0,001% heard about "Mosrite".
though band name "Mosrites" is very unconvenient - it suppose that all band ALWAYS play Mosrite guitars...
