Hi All,
I joined earlier in the week and finally getting to intro myself and say what a great forum this is. I have already downloaded the great Denvermen tune 'Surfside' tab. This band is on a DVD/Cd called Delightful Rain and is about Australian surfbands then to now, of whom the Denvermen were one in the 60's.
I'm Waxhead and you may have guessed I'm from Australia, living in a small coastal town south of Sydney. I'm a member of a small garage band called The Waxheads (slang for surfers). I mostly play sax but play guitar on some of our tunes.
We've been practicing and playing since 2000, mainly small local festivals and parties. A line up change last year saw things slow down a bit, but keen to get back on track now with some new members.

Welcome Waxhead.
Do you have a band web site? Perhaps you could share some of your bands sounds in our download section.

Hey Wax Head, welcome,
there are a few other Aussies on here already, wonder if you know them.
I know Austrailia is a big place too.

Thanks everyone,
Joel we never got around to doing a band website or myspace page. Too busy disturbing the neighbours! I just checked out the download section, so will look to putting up some tunes that we have had recorded, mostly at gigs.
At home we've also just got a mac mini with garageband. Once my daughter gets off it, I might be able to put down some newer tunes.
Bigtikidude I had noticed some Aussie responses. I think in Australia we only have two degrees of separation compared to your six. We only have about 22 million people here. So a pretty good chance people do get to know each other if they have similar interests and get out of the shed occasionally!

How's it going Waxhead, looks like you've stumbled over this place like most others do.
I'm just north of Sydney trying to get a covers band to play some 'Surf" instrumentals, its, um, been fun, they're starting to warm to the idea.
Anyhow, welcome to SG101 and go vote for the T Shirt comp up in the top boxes.
There's some good designs, pick the one you like.

Hi Spud,
I'd noticed a few 'Oz' members, are you on the Central Coast or closer to Sydney?. How's the band line up going? I was lucky in getting together with others who had an interest in surf instro, though a new line up does not have as much surf in it and vocals are making an appearance.
Where about's is the t'shirt comp on SG101?
Cheers

Yeah, the Central Coast is home, and our line up is missing a bass player at the moment although we've made do for over a year now without one.
