Permalink Los Straight Jackets in Hermosa Beach-VIDEO

New Topic

Los Straight Jackets played a private party on 10-13-2007 in Hermosa Beach. These guys are tight, really tight. Very cool guys. Mingled with he crowd between sets.

When I heard them announce they were going to play a Celine Dion song from Tinanic I kind of rolled my eyes. As it turns out, they nailed it & played one of the best songs of the night

Here is one that shows the versatility of LSJ. Pete Curry who plays bass, rips it up on lead & Eddie Angle does a great job on bass.

Thanks for posting, HBk.

It's great to see LSJ as their own group again, instead of being Big Sandy's or Kaiser George's backup band.

Rolling Eyes

that was very cool to see them Sat. and Sun. at 2 private parties,

and I agree it is way cool to see them solo without the singers.

You Da Man Tim,
Great video's . Los Straitjackets gotta be my favorite surf band. Thanks for posting all these. Your hard work is very much appreciated.

That songs kills me! It's always great when an instro band takes a popular (if uncool) song, and jazzes it up and makes it cool. The Ventures were great at it, and Los Straitjackets are the modern equivalent - I always wondered who said " hey, guys, have you heard that 'Titanic' song? We should do that!"

I think their live version of the song is better than the cd version -

"You can't tell where you're going if you don't know where you've been"

Chris,

I have to agree on the Titanic song. Thats really well said. They did such a killer job, I zoned out several times while I was shooting. I think its obvious watching the video where I was paying more attention to the performance that what I was doing. I guess the ability to do the unexpected is what sets some bands apart.

Their version of Titanic is good, but for me its like Sleepwalk, perfect pee break song.
