First time poster, been surfing around the site for a while. I'm a long time musician with a renewed interest in Surf Music. Loved it as a kid and got distracted with playing other types of music for 30+years now. I'm trying to interest some of the musicians I play with to form a surf band, we'll see how that goes.
Glad to be here, anxious to learn more, hope to contribute some.

Hi ya Delmer,
Eddie Katcher here. Welcome aboard! Best of luck on your surf band quest. Ten years back I chucked my Top-40 band and jumped back into surf/instro and never looked back. I am one of the old timers here, having played surf in the 60's before the Beatles spoiled all the fun. I currently play lead in two groups, The Surge! and The AcoustaSonics, which is a three piece all acoustic lounge/surf/instro outfit.
You will find out real quick that this site ROCKS!
Check out our myspace pages. A few quick "eddie katcher quips":
Have tank will crank.......Blondes ARE more fun and If it's got words........it ain't surf!
Best Reverbs,
Eddie K

Welcome aboard Delmer!! I agree with Eddie, this is the rockin' place to be. While Eddie is way older than me, I'm an old timer as well... starting in 1964 just before those "mop heads" too. You'll find a lot of experience, technical expertise and good friends on this site. You'll also gain a great deal of respect for Brian, who has done an outstanding job in making SG101 the greatest!!
Good luck with your plans for starting a band. One question... in what city and state will you be looking for musicians for your band?
Again, welcome aboard.

Welcome delmer!
Don't pay any attention to the Toneboy, eddiekatcher age thingy. Also pay no attantion to the Reverb box begind the curtain.
Heck, there are some guys here that were born in the late '40's.
But we aren't that old.
We're young at heart, and have a mean tremmlo pickiing pick hand.
ah or is that an old age trembling pick hand, huh eddie, Toneboy,,,,,anyone?
There are a lot of younger guys here, that are killer players, and a few young ladies also.
So join right in, 'cause you are in the surf guitar place to be!!

Wow, that's what I call a hearty welcome!
Thanks everyone, I'm really pleased to be here and I feel right at home. Been listening to some of your demos and you guys and gals have some great bands. I looked for some of you on iTunes, but didn't have a lot of luck. I'm of a mind to buy some more surf music, so I'd like to know where I can purchase members' music as well as listening suggestions from you all on ANY surf music.
Let 'er rip!

Delmer, surf on over to myspace and check out all the great music a number of the 101 member's bands have listed.
We have two meager offerings there, one under the surge!, and one under the acoustasonics.
Don't let the katcher/toneboy/woodyj continunig onslaught throw ya, we are best buds. If we could just get Toneboy to get off his butt and move to Atlanta, Woody and I could build one hell of a surf band. He's a Don Wilson clone for sure......ed

Delmer, like Eddie said we are great buds and that's one of the things I love most about surf music... the great people you meet who play it. Eddie won't toot his own horn but he can hold his own with any surf guitarist I know. He's also one major gear head and knows tons about amps, guitars and all that good surf music stuff!! He's a great source of information, that's for sure.
And Eddie, as for moving to Atlanta... my wife nixed that idea long ago... or I'd have been down there and working with you and WoodyJ to create the best surf band around!!!
