No. That was our original intent, but our attempts at getting them together proved disappointing. We got the capes idea from the Count V (60s garage band) and that was it.

Has anyone else done a show in lederhosen? (as pictured on the back of Around the World with Satan's Pilgrims). We did it for an Oktoberfest show we played... That and the Revolution garb (ala Paul Revere and the Raiders) still get the most comments from old Portlanders.
I think I may have seen a picture of the Pilgrims in the Revere outfits before I even heard a song. I thought any band that will do that, I have to hear. So outfits do work!

The video clip that comes with the Satan's Pilgrims Best Of (MuSick) has a few seconds of the band performing in the Raiders outfits. It was awesome...!

Yeah, I knew that. We talked a little outside John Henry's in Eugene when you guys were playing a show there in about 1995, remember?
Pretty hard to cobble up a bunch of Pilgrim outfits what with all the buckles and ruffles and leather boots and various accessories, huh?

That would be one of the coolest things ever. I love all of Wes Anderson's films. Their shoes are a little off.

I'm sure that The Intoxicators! would dress up as Team Zissou... but only if we get some interns to carry our equipment... Oh... and Anne-Marie too...
I had an idea a while back for a band based on Zissou but noone wanted to join ... The idea was that everyone in the band would wear Speedo's and red hats... I wanted to call it The Speedometers... Fast surf done by middle aged fat guys in Speedos...
I think that it would have been a hit... The perfect Florida surf band...

Love those shoes, matching everthing, even the way the shoe laces are tied. # 18193 is doing his best to tuck in his tummy. Anybody notice that it looks like somebody just peed by the retaining wall they are sitting on. Check out the floor.

That picture is from this year's Bay to Breakers race in S.F. I saw them run by and thought it would make good surf band uniforms. I am sure that is piss on the wall, there were so many stinkin drunk people it was unbelievable. At one point in the race, the police set up a checkpoint to confiscate the rolling kegs of beer. Did this work, no, everybody stopped before the checkpoint and drained their kegs into whoevers mouth was availble. But, back to the topic... there WAS a surf band playing at the race and they did have cool costumes on:

I have to say playing at Bay to Breakers was an incredible experience. Can you think of a more perfect forum for the MBP's than at an outdoor race with upwards of 60K people, many in costume, some naked, and almost all drunk by 10AM?
How often can one state that I've had a grown man, naked run up to me while I'm playing, screaming at me " I'M CIRCUMCISED, I'M CIRCUMCISED!!!!"
My response - "I know, I know".
For the record, I'd say half of the men were circumcised, but I don't think that "men willing to run a marathon naked" constitutes a random sampling.
There were Elvis impersonators dancing in synch, a contingent of 'I dream of Jeannie' girls, pirates pushing a boat that housed a keg, star wars storm troopers, people in blow up fat suits, someone handing out rubber chickens... you get the idea
Aaaah, it's days like those that remind me why I moved to the Bay Area.

I always thought I'd buy surf shop shirts from Mitch's Surf Shop ... the classic La Jolla surf shop, since '67. For the band.

The Bay to Breakers gig was a blast. Here are some more pictures from the event:

Oh man if it ever came down to playing infront of naked men I think I'd hang the Jag up.

Wow, that is saying a lot Bill. I can tell you really hate naked men. I think I have to agree with your statement though.

Bill - on the other hand, if you had to play in front of naked women, you'd want to keep holding on to your jag, though you may have to lower the strap a bit.

The band I am in, OuterWave, once played the annual summer bash for a major Nudist Colony here in SoCal.
