Ahhh yes, the tide has been out for some time here in Central Illinois. Since the recent split of the Surf Riders (Bloomington, IL), there has been not much live surf to speak of. OK, I know what your thinking, how can a veritable surf music hotbed like Central Illinois sustain such a drought? Well, it appears that the wait is over.

I had the priveledge of being invited to Springfield to sit in on a practice of a new band: Go Tsunami! These guys sounded fantastic! Definitely heavy surf...and very fitting for Reptile's "Heavy Surf" compilations, my first thought was that they had a similar sound to Surf Report. About half-way through the practice, a keyboard player arrived and gave the band a real Coffin Daggers vibe. Overall, very cool.

Their first gig is coming up in Springfield, IL on October 20:

Venue: Brewhaus. 617 E. Washington, Springfield, Il. 62701

Any who are in the area and who are starved for some live surf...hope to see you there.

The band has a MySpace page at: www.myspace.com/gotsunami
No music yet (nothing recorded), but it is promised soon.

Speaking of MySpace, if you are not yet a friend of the Surfabilly Freakout, befriend us too! www.myspace.com/surfabillyfreakout
