So I should be getting a used Daddy-O in a couple days now. I've heard a lot of good things about this pedal, and i'm anxious to get my hands on it and see what it does. However, while I was looking up reviews and such, I stumbled onto something refered to as the "TNT mod". it looks like it's mostly just replacing a couple capacitors, although I can't really tell for sure, being that every site I find refering to it is just trying to sell me a kit to do it.
Anyway... I was wondering, have any of you heard or done this mod to the Daddy-O and how does it sound?

I have a Daddy-O and have NOT done the mod. From what I've read online about it, you end up controlling the drive with the volume knob on your guitar, and it turns the pedal into a much punchier, gnarlier drive. I use mine to emulate mild tube break-up, kind of like a not-so-clean boost.

There are much better OD pedals out there. I have a Daddy-o and never was really able to use it on stage with vintage gear. I have a Fulldrive II that REALLY sounds great with a tube amp, and currently use a Fulltone Trebble Boost for just a little bite on leads. Playing a Mosrite with P-90's alreayd gives quite a bit of creamy sound through tubes.
I would even prefer a TS-9 over a Daddy-O, which is not a "serious" distortion pedal. If you need Ventures-like Fuzz use an Ashbase Fuzzrite.
I posted somewhere that if you have $ for a pedal, get yourself a Petersen Strobe Tuner: shocking difference in how your guitar sounds.

unfortunately i don't have a lot of cash, nor do i have any "real" vintage gear. i'm just looking for a little bit of a signal boost and a bite for the leads and such. right now i'm just playing a danelectro U-2 reissue, through a fender deluxe reverb pedal, into an old early-mid 80's crate combo amp with a spring reverb. the actual amp reverb sucks, which is why i have the deluxe reverb pedal, but i did pull the spring box out of the back of the cab and set it next to the rest of my pedals so i can give it a swift kick from time to time.
