My friend's mother used to call "tortillas" - rhymes with flotilla. We would try to keep straight faces. Out of respect of course.

Baja Marty Butchers Tortilla and quesadilla all the time.

funny stuff.

Phil Dirt pronounced 'Chile Relleno' (Ghost Riders in Disquise - har!) with the l's on KFJC last Saturday. I was surprised since he hails from the San Jose area if I recall correctly. He was probably messing with me Smile Boy I do miss Saturday nites with Phil and <glissando> 'Surf's Up' </glissando>.

mmmm... chile rellenos,
Rick

damn Gringos...

I don't care how they say it, as long as they play it!

It's cool to know we are on XM. I don't have Satelite radio, but I keep hearing great things about it.

And here I thought it was a new mariachi artist "Paolo del Mar"....

I'm lost, isn't it 'pollo' as in 'solo' ?

Nah, it's "poi -yo" .

Gandy Dancer

Ive always assumed poL-yo cause that's how I learned to pronounce the few words spanish I speak. I think it goes all three ways, pol-yo, pollo or poiyo - just depends on where it is said. we have some native spanish speakers right? Kyle?

If you're from Argentina it's "pojo," kinda.

Su caliente, deja para ir a la playa y para escuchar la música de la surf.

Nah, it's "poi -yo" .

Woody wins... poi-yo and I like the hawaiian angle that phonetic spelling gives it.

When I was in Ventura, CA in the summer of 2004, I tended to pronounce the LL in Camarillo, until I started going to Ventura Speedway on the weekends, and heard the track announcer say "cam-uh-ree-oh." The first couple of times, I thought to myself "where is 'cam-uh-ree-oh'," but I finally figured it out - "oh, it's not pronounced 'cam-uh-ril-oh'." Sometimes I'm slow like that. Pollo alluded to it, but sumtymz hukt on fonix doant wurk four me.

I'm naming our next band What

as for the "poi -yo" thing, it's like an in joke, something along the line of that fictional band the "Oneders" who had to change to the "Wonders" so people got it.

I like it though because it reminds me of the way the islanders have a way with speech that rings nicely to the ears.

Cool
