I finally joined the fray bought a Fender FSR 2024 Made in Japan MIJ Traditional II 60s Daphne Blue Jazzmaster. I've mostly been a tele player, but have used Gretsch 6120's.
What components on this thing will I likely need to replace. What is substandard to the American Original vintage line?
I'm already eying a Mastery.
But pots, pickups and the trem are on the table depending on differences.
Is there a way to tell if the trem is the same as the US vintage re-issue?
Seems like it came with factory 10's. I was thinking of going with Pure Nickel 12's but some folks seem to use Flats too.
I'm mostly a Ventures/Shadows guy and that probably what I play on this. Tips on getting into this style are appreciated.

Nice one! My last Jazzmaster was an MIJ 60's reissue, although in sunburst. It was a beautiful guitar. You're going to love yours. Don't worry too much about upgrades just yet. Play it for a while and decide what you love and don't love about it before switching out parts that may not be as big of a concern as you expect them to be. Mastery bridges are excellent, but I found my Fender bridge to be quite adequate for what I needed and I ended up swapping out my pickups and pots instead. No matter what, you're going to have a good time with this one.

Thanks! Just trying to get a hold of the Jazz universe I've never had an offset. I got no idea how to start with this thing. Maybe I will just try 11's.
Can anyone recommend a good site for learning the Surf, spy, spaghetti style? All I know is a few Ventures tunes.

kram29, I can recommend that you start with "The Surf Guitar Book" by Martin Schmidt of the Razorblades. Martin is quite an accomplished guitarist and many on SG101 have enjoyed his books. Here's a link.

I have a Jag of that late 60s traditional II series - and the electronics are fine! The vibrato has a slimmer E to e distance (the US model has 56mm, the Mastery 54mm and the MIJ 50mm - while Staytrem and the Am Pro Bridges have a 52mm E-e distance). It works fine for me though - and I have several of them. The arm on the new one made some squealing noises - (as I already had one waiting for it) I replaced them with the Staytrem arm (as I did with my AVRI units as well). Mastery and Tuffset are also great bridges!

My only advice would be checking the nut; most of your tuning issues might come from a non properly dressed nut. If you're like me, a constant vibrato user. Congrats on your Jazzmaster.

The AVRI tailpiece should be a drop in, if you are thinking along those lines. I’m a fan of the StayTrem bridge and also their arm and collet, assuming that they are even available right now.

I think you should just play it as is for several months and see if you can dial in the tone you want with what you have. Then you may have a better idea of what you want to replace. Congratulations on the new gtr

You're gonna hate that stock bridge, though! I love Jazzmasters but that bridge is such a poor design.
IMO, that is. Some will swear differently.

Ok, I’ll take you up on that.
I don’t know which bridge comes on this model, so I won’t offer any opinions regarding this particular guitar, but FMIC is capable of putting decent bridges. I have a Squier CV ‘70s Jaguar and the OEM bridge has treated me quite well. My other Jaguar, a Warmoth build, has a StayTrem bridge which is excellent. For anyone buying a CV Squier, however, I’d suggest giving the OEM a chance.
