Permalink Surf music in Ableton Live(?)

New Topic

Anyone have any tips/tricks recording surf music in Ableton Live? Any special settings or mixing/mastering advice? I’m still working on latency issues but figured SOMEONE in here might be using Ableton to record surf tracks. As of now I’m just recording individual tracks through my Scarlett solo 4th gen. Haven’t even messed with mic’ing drums or anything yet

Andrew,
I just got a Push 2 used a couple of months ago and will be going down the road of using Ableton and the Push 2 to try and create songs to record and hopefully play live. Right now, I'm just trying to wrap my head around all that Ableton offers. The one thing I have come across on YouTube was to use the reverb built into Ableton and not an outboard reverb. I understand that using reverbs outside of Ableton usually results in a muddy tone. Let me know if you have any questions or advice to share. I was super stoked to see someone else on here using Ableton for surf.
