Northeast of Toronto - about as far from the ocean as you can get

Mr.H is the GL1100 with Dnepr sidecar that is my daily driver in the warm half of the year. I was getting ready to change to Eccles (the one I drive in winter) when I realized that I had not taken any video on Mr.H this year.
And that it was too late for the fall colours.
Again.
So I decided I'd better go for a ride with the camera running and this is the result.

Less than 4 weeks after the last video the scenery looks a bit different. This wasn't the 1st ride of the season on Eccles (CX650E based winter machine) or even the 1st ride outside of our village but it was the 1st with snow on the ground.
I cut this video short because there is a lot of camera shake. I had hoped that replacing the old, rusted out exhaust system would make a bigger difference but it looks like I need to start experimenting with the camera mount again.

I think I've solved the camera shake. One of the things that kept me from mounting the camera on the handlebar (like I did on the summer bike) was that there isn't a lot of room and in order for it to not hit anything when steering hard a lot more of the bike's fairing would be in frame; A few days before New Year's I decided that would be better than the shake so I came up with an entirely new mount. I still need to modify the new mount so that the camera will sit more level left to right and a few other details but I'm pretty happy with the result so far.
Oh, and Happy New Year

It was nice out (if only a few degrees above freezing) on Thursday and the forecast said an ice storm was coming so I went for a ride.
This video is a bit different from my usual because I didn't edit it except at the beginning & end so what you see is what I saw (except I saw the top of the windshield, not the side of the fairing).

Ice storm?! What are you talking about. It was 90 degrees two days ago, and I have the sweaty bicycle jersey to prove it.
I always enjoy a visit to the fertile lands of the north. Nice ride, great soundtrack. Thanks for bringing me along.

A major ice storm paralyzed most of Southern Ontario this weekend. There are a lot of trees down and that took out power lines everywhere. We were without power from Friday until this afternoon (5 days).
Our back fence neighbour's garage roof is gone. Next door to them the yard is full of tree trunks & branches that seem to have missed a car he had parked in the middle of the yard. A lot of the big maple trees on the main road of our town are badly damaged.
One of the Manitoba maples in our yard broke in half. It was tall but the part that landed on the shed the summer bike is in was only about 5" diameter. The roof is dented but not breached and the contents are OK.
I took pics of our yard and video driving around on Monday but I won't be able to do anything with it for a while.
With no power our sump pumps didn't work so by Sunday morning there was about 2" of water above the raised basement floor (4" total). When he heard we were flooded our neighbour's son brought us his generator. We've started an insurance claim but we will be very busy dealing with the damage for a while.
And the forecast says more ice this afternoon but "not be nearly as significant as the ice storm from this past weekend". There are a lot of broken branches hanging in trees waiting to fall on power lines so it may not be over yet.

Yeah, winter showed up late in a lot of places. A week ago, I was dealing with 90 F temps, but today it’s in the 60s and forecast to be colder the next couple of days. For the locale, this is unusually cold.
