Don't want to hijack your post, but just curious about your particular interest in the Jaguar Player 2.
Pros, cons?

I have been interested in a possible new Jaguar for possibly upgrading. And the neck is the attraction here, rosewood, mod C.

I have a Vintera and did an extensive upgrade to all vintage '62 electronics. But the Pau Ferro is not really appealing. (considered the Monty was you suggested, but passed)

The new Jaguar Player 2 seems to have a quality neck and could be a good platform to further upgrade.
I do know there is no routing for a rhythm circuit,(not that there couldn't be)

I have other great success with mods to a Squier Vintage Modified which does have a quality rosewood neck.
But the tremelo and bridge definitely need upgrading and the price point of that approaches the Jaguar Player 2 at that point.

And then I'm considering a Fender Mod shop build, but that's a total departure from finances.

Chiba. I'm with you 100% on the 9.5 radius. Which makes the affordable Jaguars into a small window.
I am willing to do numerous upgrades for the Squier. Or any worthy Jag.

But unexpectedly...
I am now going to take a chance on this new/used Squier CV70. I sprang at the listing last night with saving to my watch list when only 5 were already.
I sent an offer, 2 hours later and no reply. Over 70 views and at least a half dozen had in their carts...I just paid the listing at $550.
I admit I was attracted to the color primarily. But according to the seller, it's got a pro setup, shim neck, bone nut filed, and trued frets.
So it's in the ballpark for a good platform to continue.
Standard are Indian laurel fretboard with block inlay, 9.5 Mustang style bridge. Traditional Jag wiring.
I already have a couple spare vintage 62 and Fender Pro pickups.
I think the tremelo is about the only thing I really need to replace, later on.

I have a Squier 70's Jag which I purchased well prior to the release of the new Fender Player 2 Jags. I will say, just as you indicated, my Jag needed work: fret level/crown/polish/fret ends rounded off; nut recut / polish (did not need a new nut as the stock nut is bone, which was confirmed by the luthier)and restrung with 11-48's. The pick-up height adjustment did not raise the pu's enough so spring height adjusters were added. This came to about $130.00. I personally added a pair of of nylon bridge post inserts ($10.00). Now the guitar plays beautifully up and down the neck with low action and no buzzes or rattles. It honestly is one of my best feeling and playing necks and I have some well set up much, much higher end guitars. Stays in tune better with the nylon bridge post inserts too. The stock pu's are also sounding real nice after spending time dialing in the heights (but pu tone can just be a matter of personal preference. But I understand the appeal of getting something out of the box that is ready to go with just some minor tweaks.

You've nailed it right here, and I'm kinda done playing the lottery when it comes to buying a guitar. It seems I'll be putting the same amount of $$ into it no matter whether I get a Squier or a MIM, so I'd rather get the MIM knowing it potentially won't need as much work.

I'm a bit jealous of the people who have loved their Squiers right out of the box. I wish my experiences had been the same.

I’ve had two that were great experiences, and I recently played a Squier Jazzmaster a while back which was impressive. If I had room, I wouldn’t have been able to resist.
