Permalink How many amps do you need?

I have a 61 6G14-A all original Showman that I love to death. 15 inch JBL tone ring of course. Blonde and ox blood.

then the rare Fender studio bass amp from the mid 70's. I converted it to a blonde tolex head and run it into a blonde and ox blood KBL 15 inch tone ring. I use this for bass AND for guitar. These amps are serious sleepers. It sounds damn close to my Showman. And for a fourth of the price. It has a super useful built in EQ that can do some killer stuff. I set the EQ's on amp for surfy chords and leads - but during muted drippy parts I hit the EQ and the drip switch on surfy bear and it sounds just like the Astronauts level of drip.
I also run both of these 15 inch tone rings at the same time into my Showman head when I want to shake the dust out of my neighbors attic.

I have also recently picked up a blonde twin reverb tone master and modded it to fit a 15 inch speaker! I think I'm the first person to do it. Did this back when the amps were new. I know these get a lot of hate... but I really like the amp. It can play guitar or bass exceptionally well. And with a surfy bear and the blossom point it sounds amazing. I don't get the hate on these. This is my gig amp a lot of the time.

I enjoy the tone master so much that I intend to get the new bassman tone master when they pop up used.

All of these amps have different functions. Plus.... life is too short for a 'B' rig. Laughing
