Hello friends!
I plan to trek from Denver to Portland, OR for the Satan's Pilgrims and Ghastly Ones show at the end of October.
Today's appeal is to the collective mind of the SG101 Forum.
Do you have any questions you'd like me to ask them? They can be questions from the past or current day; questions for individual memebers, etc.
Thank you for all the input to my previous appeals for interview questions. It's incredible to see the different perspectives that each member here brings.
Thank you!
— Matthew

What were the inspiration and goals for forming the band at the very beginning? When you did you all know "holy shit we are on to something"? And I'm just curious about how you feel about the twists and turns the band has taken over 30 (!) years and what make you stick together.

Excellent. Thanks, Brian!
Could you elaborate on the "twists and turns," please?

Bobby was out for a while, then the band was on hiatus for a period, then they came back, Dave passed away, Pink Martini team up, etc, etc. Lots of stuff has happened, it's quite remarkable you can keep a band together that long under normal circumstances, let alone what they experienced.

If Satan's Pilgrims had landed in America instead of the regular pilgrims, how much cooler would America be now?

I'd like to hear about their song writing/arranging process. Especially when they're spread out.
I had a delightful exchange with Ted fairly recently wherein I learned that he's responsible for a good number of songs and this came as a total surprise because how the hell does a drummer know how to write a song??? Kidding, of course, but this did make me more curious to know all about their methods.
Also, ask them if it's painful being that cool!

Garrett was an inspired choice, as a new member. That said, there is clearly no replacing Dave. No one person has taken on Dave's role. How was the guitar workload divvied-up after Dave's tragic passing, and upon Garrett's arrival?

Thank you, Bob! I've added that to the list.

I would ask Satan’s Pilgrims this simple yet profound question:
what’s it like being the best surf band of all time????

If they had it to do over again,
Would they have chosen white pants?

What was the process for recording and mixing remotely for their last full length? Pros and cons, etc?
