Smoking!
(and a few other longer videos from the festival on the same channel)

Los Apollos - cinematic surf music trio (Berlin)
"Postcards from the Scrapyard" Vol. 1, 2 & 3 NOW available on various platforms!
"Chaos at the Lobster Lounge" available as LP and download on Surf Cookie Records!

Chris, I can definitely recommend flying into Santa Ana (John Wayne Airport). It's laid back compared to LAX, with cars for rent right there at the airport, not a bus ride away. Easy in, easy out and the same distance in time as coming from LAX.

I know all about John Wayne International airport. It's my favorite airport of all time. I used to fly into SoCal 2 times a year for several years for various reasons, usually surf music related. SNA was my airport. But this time, I waited too long for tickets, and there was nothing.

If I couldn't complain about LAX, it would have been the perfect trip.

Oh, except I got COVID this trip.

Hope you feel better soon Chris, that sucks.

Long Beach airport is 10 min away from the hotel.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

American Airlines out of Dallas/Fort Worth doesn't fly into Long Beach Municipal Airport. It would have been great if they did! I'd have to take a "one stop" on Delta through SLC. Tack on an additional 2 hours.

Patrick

Many flights now days stop somewhere.
I’d much rather do that and skip the insanity of LAX,
Just my opinion.

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Found another video from our second set. This I’m will be on our upcoming “dark side” ep (the companion to “Los Alamos”).

If you have title suggestions, send them our way!

Ok. Week and a half after, but here it is.
Still trying to recuperate from this years
Surf Guitar 101 Festival.
First off I want to thank my Partners
Christopher Burkhardt And Art Bourasseau for helping me make this event bigger and better the last 2 years.
Without them I doubt it would be as big,
And probably not a 3 day weekender at a hotel. So please help me thank them for helping me.
Next I’d Like to Thank Summer Etter and all the helpers at the front check in table.
It’s a thankless Job, but Necessary.
Next I’d like to Thank Ran Mosessco and Jonpaul Balak for the use of their amps.
If not for them, the event wouldn’t sound as good. Also Ran and David Berner for helping the bands with stage and amp set up. And of Course Ian the Sound Guy.
I love when sound guys are not to proud to let me ask them for changes to the mix.
Next I’d like to thank Dorthy Michelle Treasure and Clint Beachwood and his wife Sue for selling the raffle tix all weekend. Another thankless job/necessary evil. And to the DJs
Amy Dobbins and Domenic Priore.
All of our Sponsors including Fender Guitars, Surfy industries. Quilter, Lace Sensor pickups, Caveman Vintage Music.
Alameda Guitars, Austin Ribbon Mics.
Rattlesnake Cables. 60 Cycle Hum.
Tabu Recordings, and Reverb International magazine. MuSick Recordings Double Crown records,
Hi-Tide Recordings Surf Cookie records,
Otitis Media records. Radio free Bakersfield, Lee Joseph at Dionysus records for help with promotion.
Huge Thanks to Daniel Paul for the lighting and projections. Everybody loved them.
Tom Laura aka Big Toe for the great flyer image. And Jason Weckerly for the additional flyer images. Denise Halbe And David Arnson for the Fri . Night flyer images.
Elliot Kendall for spreading flyers all over the state. And all the Surf Radio DJs that mentioned the fest for months and months. Thanks Also to Kasey Sherwood
And John Okanishi for the hosting of the vintage bathing suit competition.
Thanks to all the go go dancers and burlesque dancers.
Big thanks to Roxanne’s for providing food for the weekend.
And last but not least all of the bands,
And all of you fans that came from all over the world. If not for you. The show wouldn’t be the huge success.
Just look at this pic taken from the stage when the Ghastly Ones played. Totally packed room! Amazing!!!
Till next year! Cheers and thanks again for coming, helping, supporting

Jeff(bigtikidude)

Our thanks to you Jeff, and everyone else you listed for organizing this great event! This was my first SG101 Music Festival and I hope it will be the first of many to come!

Patrick

Here's my writeup on the event. I apologize for any factual errors and to the bands I was too exhausted to see.

Nice review! It's fun to see similar opinions of certain bands and experiences.

This weekend was a highlight of my year, and of my life.

Is anyone with photography skills going to the festival?

I will interview a few bands this weekend and could use some good pictures.

I'm asking because I'm too much of a novice with my digital camera...

Thanks!

Let me know if you have some pictures you could share.
Thanks!
