Permalink Does Misirlou have hammer-ons?

I'm practicing Misirlou and am not sure if I'm hearing hammer-ons in the 3d bar, where it goes down from C to E.

If anyone knows a YT lesson or tab that's true to how Dale plays it, please share.

There are no hammer-ons. I doubt they're even possible at the string gauge Dale used...

Here's a pretty authentic lesson:

DEFINITELY hammer-ons and pull-offs in the descending line. Dick used them a lot in his playing, he had good technique and knew how to use it to make a melody come alive.

Oh man. I need to open my mouth wide and insert my foot! I shouldn't have posted anything until I grasped this matter more clearly.

Yes, I agree with Ivan. I think on the descent on the high E, he does probably use that technique. I've never thought about naming that but I guess that's what it's called. And I'm over here envisioning Dick Dale doing some EVH stuff all over his fretboard.

On the low E I do think he actually picks every note during those similar flourishes.

Here's a good instructional vid.
