imageHeelo out there!!!! Here is my Budget Surf Kit. After all the stuff I've done with small jazz-type kits, it was time to go back to a full size (22" bass) kit. But I didn't want to just buy another new one......A friend of mine offered me his old cheapie kit for 50 bucks and I did the rest. The color is called Turquoise Sparkle Holographic and it consists of commercial grade vinyl covering. New drum wraps were not cost-effective in this instance-this was a budget kit. 22x14-16x16-12x9-14x5 snare. Gibraltar supplied the bass mounted cymbal arm. I put new Remo Ambassador heads on-we'll see how long they last!! The basic kit was sitting in a garage for about 20 years-so the chrome needed cleaning but the shells were in excellent shape-good bearing edges and no cracks or delamination. The steel snare sounds, well, like a cheap snare, of course, but it can easily be swapped for something else in my inventory. The rest of this 5-lug cheapie kit sounds like artillery compared to my smaller stuff. I already had all the Pearl hardware so that was not included in the cost. Overall, I had to buy new heads, the vinyl wrap, the cymbal boom arm, and the front bass hoop because the chrome was flaking off the original and making a mess on the carpet. Total cost? Under 400 bucks.
