murph Joined: Dec 16, 2010 Posts: 340 Chapel Hill, NC	Posted on May 06 2024 08:33 AM When we played with Messer Chups a few years ago, Oleg plugged his Jazzmaster into Mike's tube reverb unit and amp (both Gomez Amplification, but similar to a Fender reverb unit and Showman). The tone he got sounded like so many of their recordings. Oleg tweaked the reverb settings for different songs, but that minimal signal chain delivered the goods. I saw them on a festival once, not in the best conditions for a (surf) band. But his sound was spot on. And I am not a hardcore fan. Original song writing too. I think he has a light touch, at least as far as I van tell from watching his performance on YouTube. He also uses the vibrato with two fingers, while the hand is behind the bridge. To me that indicates a vibrato arm with a spring that is set loose rather than tight. @Murph, I'm going to check out your band. Cool to have been booked together with Messer Chups. Bigger Fender valve amps are not an option. Young kids, neighbours etc. Now it is time to go practice, practice, practice. Top

I bought a Sonic Blue Twanger just for this purpose but I'm unsure where to place it in my signal chain for best effect. I have my Strat going into a Surfy Bear Classic, then the SBT, then Blossom Point. The problem is way too much ice pick! Should I move the SBT?
