If I'm not listening to surf, doo woo and rockabilly are playing.

Love 50s/60s anything, but I’d say surf introduced me to its related cousin, exotica/lounge/tiki music.

Martin Denny, Les Baxter, Arthur Lyman, Cal Tjader, Esquivel, Henry Mancini, Robert Drasnin, Ted Auletta, Chaino, Webley Edwards, etc.

What I love about surf is how many other interests/hobbies it spawned for me. Surf and Martin Denny go together like peas in a pod.

Cal Tjader was an amazing artist.

The artist formerly known as: Synchro

When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar.

Obviously lots of great bands have been listed but outside of surf for me it’s the mighty J Mascis and Dino Jr I listen to the most. But I have been getting deep into neo soul as well.

Jimmy Thackery is one of my favorite guitarists. He made his name with the Nighthawks, throughout the 70's and early 80's, after which he went solo. Thackery is primarily a blues/blues-rock guitarist, but he sometimes ventures into country, rockabilly, soul and some surf/spy oriented tunes. He does a killer version of "Apache" here:
