Hey
Surf guitar is one of the few genres that i bounce around. Not a really a tone guy and my recording technique is no existent, so no help there. I like the The Atlantics, Dick Dale heavier sound, I had the best of the Challengers Cd that really got into. I thought it was well produced and arranged. Anything with that Arabic, tone and a half scale jump I like.
When I was really getting in to Surf guitar before youtube i guess I got my hands on what I could find but alot it it just seemed to cash in on the popularity of it (surf guitar music 60's) at the time without really adding to it. Anyway I'll have look around the site listen to peoples music and hopefully find some good recommendations, Cheers
