I’ve noticed in early photos of DD his rhythm section playing Jazzmasters? Possibly through Bassmans?
Also, what are some good rule of thumb for attaining a nice rhythm sound?
Im playing a G&L Comanche which is essentially a Strat copy or sometimes I’ll play a Jazzmaster through a Fender Rumble 100 .
any suggestions or guidance is greatly appreciated!

I think the simplest rule of thumb is this:
Make it sound different than the lead!
The Wavechargers do a great job of this, even though the lead and rhythm are generally both Jaguars. As far as I can tell, they run the rhythm guitar totally dry and it sets it off well from the lead and keeps things from getting too washed out. With today's modern long-tail reverb pans running around everywhere, this is more important than ever.
