I know they aren't surf, but goddam I love these guys. Does anyone know what the guitar player's sound chain is? They are, of course, playing in town the one weekend I'm out of town. Ah well.

the other question is they seem to be getting really big, Khruangbin is really big, how can we parlay these "not surf, but kind of similar" instrumental bands into great success for all the surf bands?!

I say their sound isn’t so “not surf” to count them out. If people book them in conjunction with other instrumental guitar bands (“surf”) that’d be wicked!

I’ve noticed to some degree the most active touring surf acts aren’t overwhelmingly surfy themselves (except Surfer Joe!)

Excited to be going to see them in April. Love, love, love that National guitar.

I came across La Lom when thier videos came up on Youtube after watching lots of videos by Twanguero (Diego Garcia), a Spanish virtuoso guitarist who has been around a while. If you like La Lom you will most likely also like Twanguero.

that is no lie, I really like that! thanks!

this is getting still further afield but I also enjoy Los Hermanos Gutierez https://youtu.be/QaejAfU-rfs?si=1uYFOX_CgsfnSiSI

Thanks, Stormtiger. Hadn't heard Twanguero before, but now I'm digging it.

Those Hermanos had slipped my mind, I've watched their videos and really like them. Thanks for reminding me.
