Perhaps the better first discussion of this topic here is to understand a little history and provide an introduction. For those not necessarily aware of the latest news in the Tiki sub culture world, a brand-new chain of proper, authentic and high quality Don The Beachcomber establishments are set to open over the next few years. The very first of these will be in Madeira Beach, a resort destination right on the coast near St. Petersburg, FL. A tremendous amount of planning, hard work and investment has gone into this new brand and they are extremely serious about what they are doing. Top experts in their fields have been assembled to do what they do best to bring the vision of opening a new version of such a legendary brand back to life. In addition to those experts with hands-on involvement, an advisory board consisting of some of the world’s most important and knowledgable experts in all facets of Tiki were assembled and involved in most major decisions to make sure that things have been done properly every step of the way in upholding the DTB tradition. The first location is scheduled to have their official grand opening in just a few days! It's amazing! And I'm not just saying that because I've been involved and biased. As a decades-long Tiki person with extremely high and traditional standards, I can honestly say that they have done everything right. Their parent company has truly showed their intentions of upholding only the highest standards on all levels and respecting the DTB institution. There are many more locations in the works--the next two in Florida (Downtown Tampa, then Hamlin near Orlando) and then the expansion will continue! I would strongly encourage anyone within a few hours of this first location to make it a destination and check it out! It's officially open as of 2/23/24! —Insect Surfers |
