Okay guys, I am shit out of luck. My Jag came in the mail today (GREAT YAYYY)
NOT!
I opened the box, to stare at the brand new case, looks great. I go to open the case, so excited. I flip the middle latch and then go to the sides, to see locks. The key has to be in the box right? NOPE No key, no nothing. Have not even been able to get the case open.
How you can help me: Is it possible to open these locks without the key????? Should I try picking the locks???? How would I do that? I am very sad right now. I am trying to get in touch with someone from the store, but the guy in the guitar department is not in right now, and the manager has went home for the day.

You can probably take the lock off somehow. My Jag case is not here at the moment so I can't look at it. But can you pry it off or something, of course don't damage the case.

i had to push in opposites directions, it was not locked, i just didnt know you had to do that. I feel like a dumbass.

Hey, what color is the Jag? I have an AV myself. Great guitar. Mine is refinished Burgundy Mist.

I sold a guy a guitar with a C&G case - it didn't have a key, so I swiped one from another case. I think the keys are all the same on the new cases. I could be wrong, but it might save your ass in a pinch. BTW, it was a Strat case and I took the key from a Jaguar/Jazzmaster case.

man this ax is so sweet. I'll have to say the tone is amazing, and its an easy player, and the pics do it no justice. The guitar was set up with d'addario 13's flatwound. I may have bitten off more than I can chew with these, unless maybe I will get used to them I may try 12's. My other guitars are 11's. I played the jag for about an hour and then switched to my tele, 11's felt like nothing.

One quick question.... that black foam piece behind the bridge pickup, what the hell is its purpose?

congratulations stigger:
that black foam piece is the string mute...I think it's on a gizmo that raises and lowers in order to contact the strings (or not)...I think most simply remove the mute piece from the bridge and store it in the case...
most people simply apply the "palm mute" technique when they want muted attack...they don't mess around with the foam and chrome Fender bridge gizmo...

ps: most also remove the chrome bridge cover (it just pops off) and put that in the case with the foam mute...

I suggest not removing your mute. It doesn't detract from the playing at all. If anything it helps the guitar since the bridge cannot drop down on its own. Plus, the vibe of the AV and vintage Jag is with the mute on.

otherwise, I think it can be removed when you change strings...

Leave the mute on. Put the bridge cover on only for photos, otherwise leave it in your case.

brain and the gang... Do you guys find the tremolo system (wammy bar) simply amazing on the jag? It is just a thing of beauty. I am just speachless about this guitar guys. I am not trying to brag, I am just so happy.

Yeah, the trem system rules. I like it a lot more than my Bigsby or a Strat trem.
