Anyone use one of these amps for surf? I’ve been all over youtube. I’m really interested in trying one out. I can’t find any demos with them even with a reverb added let alone surf sounds.
Thought? Experience?
I’m thinking of getting one to use with a surfy bear metal and my CV 40th JM just for home use.
TIA.

Never owned or played through one myself but always heard great things about them. Believe it or not these are hand wired on eyelet boards (in China). 6 Watts w/ a full size cab and a 12" speaker is the low wattage ticket to tone. I have a DeLisle Nickel Box which is 5 watts with a 12" speaker in a good size cab and it surfs fine. There is a short demo on the VHT website but it's not a very good demo. I would have to believe that the VHT with a Surfy Metal and Jazzmaster will surf just fine (a tremolo pedal wouldn't hurt either)...just keep the gain down.

The amp looks good especially for home use. Reviews indicate that a tube swap might be in order. Check out this website:

Small amps with 12” speakers are my go to choice. I use a Winfield Typhoon, much of the time, 5 watts and a 1x12” speaker. Having your amp break a sweat does wonders for the sound.
