Hey Everyone,

Not sure how many follow Noel Squitieri or his family on FB, but he hasn’t been doing well and they recently made the decision to move him into palliative care.

Noel has always been such a HUGE and steadfast supporter of surf music and has shown the most amazing positivity, encouragement, kindness and generosity to the entire community. He truly is one of the good ones. Just a kind, warm, joyful human being.

Please keep him, his wife Barbara and his kids Henry and Cory in your thoughts and send a little extra positive energy their way during this difficult time.

Jonpaul, thanks for the heads up on Noel. He and I are both Pittsburgh boys and I've always been encouraged by his comments in the forums. I will keep him and his family in prayer.

Patrick

It's so sad. Noel was one of the first to welcome me when I joined.

Oh man. Yes. Noel, are one of the nicest users. I just hope he's as comfortable as modern medicine can make him. He's one of those users that I get very clear "open-hearted honest and kind person" vibes from reading his posts. I wish I had a tenth of his ability to look at the bright side. This is a little shocking after he talked about playing guitar again. Damn.

Oh how sad. Thanks for the update Jonpaul. Noel is a big part of what makes this forum special.

Noel is one of the kindest and most positive people that I've ever met. His love and support of surf, family and friends is unsurpassed. I've been hoping that he could pull through this ordeal. After some very positive signs, it has been brutal reading Barbara's daily reports on FB. This is an absolute crusher, and I am devastated for Noel, his lovely family, his many friends, and the surf community. Sending all the positive thoughts, good vibes, prayer, and love that I can muster.

I was following this on fb all the time. Intelligent and supportive man full of passion to the surf music. He was so strong and positive in his fight, I still can’t believe it… My thoughts are with him and his family.

I’m saddened to hear this. I’ve never had the good fortune to meet Noel, but have always enjoyed his contributions here. My thoughts are with Noel and his family.

Los Fantasticos

I don't know what to say except I'm very sad for him and his family. So often, we find we have no control over life.

I am shocked and saddened at what Noel is dealing with.

My thoughts and prayers are 100% with him and his family at this most difficult time.

Thank you, Jonpaul, for the update on Noel's condition.

I remember meeting Noel at a Ventures Fest in Crum Lynne, Pa. some years back. Our conversation led to some discussion of this website. He told me he admired how I "stuck to my guns; stuck to my counter arguments" when opinions I expressed on various forums met with some opposition. A truly nice guy to talk with.
Best to you, Noel.

I read through a number of Noel's old posts--good guy. I'm sorry to hear the recent news of his health.

If I'd stop buying old guitars to fix, I might actually learn to play.

I’ve never gotten to meet Noel in person though online over the last 20 years or so, he’s continually been supportive, helpful, resilient, and just an all around good person. I wish him and his family the best.

Great guy, glad I spent a little time with him at Hi-Tide Summer Holiday a few years ago. It seemed like he really put up a fight.

Storm Surge of Reverb: Surf & Instro Radio

Noel and I lived close enough that he had asked me once to share a ride together to go down south for a surf weekend. I greatly wished that I had taken him up and was able to spend that time together. I do know that we shared hundreds of threads and messages on FB. We talked about so many things that weren't surf related. He always supported me on my many endeavors. We also shared thoughts on simple household things such as landscaping and such. What we all know was his immense writing talent. The topics he covered were so well illustrated right up to his chronicle's journaling his procedures and journey in his battle against cancer. With social media, I'm sure we have all have some experience with seeing this type of loss play out. Certainly not my first and its crushing on a human level. Thank you, Noel, for being a great friend. I will miss your great spirit. You were one of a kind!
