In my search for better amp tone I stumbled across the Joyo American Sound pedal and am intrigued by it.
I keep seeing it referenced as “Fender amp in a pedal”

Im using a Fender Rumble 100 for my amp and wonder if it would help me achieve a cleaner sound at higher volume?

Or is it aimed more at overdriven sounds?

thanks! Cool

I never had success with it in front of an amp because of the built-in cabinet emulation. It’s a nice pedal, especially for the price, but in my experience it was better for using it direct rather than in front of an existing amp. Lots of folks like it for that purpose, though.

I have used the Joyo American Sound both as a recording tool (see this thread and my contributions to the last three SG101 comps) and as a pedal in front of an amp to give it some more character (see video below where I play through an old Kustom solid state combo). In both cases, it worked great for me to get a nice 'cleanish' / 'edge of break-up' sound.

I don't know whether I understand you correctly here. Do you mean your amp is overdriving at a low volume? That can't be fixed by any pedal but only by an amp with more headroom. If you don't like how the amp's overdrive sounds than the Joyo offers some good alternatives since it is supposed to deliver tones ranging through the whole Fender history. It's a cheap clone of the old Tech21 Blonde pedal but without the option to switch off the speaker emulation (which was only added by Tech21 at a later point anyhow and never was a problem for me).
