do you tour with backup spring pans when you go on the road?

I usually tour with a backup reverb pedal (Strymon Flint in my case). Haven't ever had a problem with pan on tour though.

I also take a pedal (Catalinbread Topanga)with me in case of Reverb Tank failure. To date, I haven’t had a tank failure.

I had Oceans 11 as a backup and once it was nice to have cause one spring in SurfyBear pan was broken. Luckily I have heard that something is wrong during a sound check.

Considering that you can buy an acceptable reverb pedal for relatively little, I would think that this would be the easiest solution. I used to carry a bag with spare tubes, and all sorts of other spares, but I don’t, anymore. I do carry a spare 1 Spot power supply, in case my pedalboard PS fails, so I can at least power a reverb pedal, and I carry a spare amp, so I can switch out if I blow a tube, but that’s it.

Now I carry just Superblock US in a gigbag pocket)

I have a Crate Powerblock as an absolute last resort, but I also have a combo amp with an interrupter jack, which allows me to use it as a speaker cabinet, easily, so I usually carry my Winfield Cyclone head as a spare amp.

I wouldn't suggest carrying a spare reverb pan. The main reason reverb pans fail is being jostled around. Bad enough in a solid amp, but just riding around in a gig bag or something like that would likely be even worse.

I always have a small pedalboard with a Catalinbread Topanga or an Oceans 11 (and a few other things). And I keep a Quilter Tone Block 201 in my gig bag. The latter has saved my butt more than once when provided back line amps either sucked or completely failed. Just plugged amp's speaker cable into my Quilter, voila. Can cut any gig, any volume. It's actually become my primary pedal steel amp, but works for guitar just fine. With a 6G15 or good reverb pedal, it sounds good, even for an old tube junkie like me.

I like to take an extra reverb unit with me to every gig… because I do like to kick mine.

You should try reasoning with it, first. Smile

Bravo!

If I'd stop buying old guitars to fix, I might actually learn to play.
