Permalink Anyone used the stereo maker pedal from surfybear?

When I was at Namm a couple years ago, they has the studio rack mount spring reverb unit. It had a cool feature where it sort of made the mono unit sound stereo. I kind of wanted to do this with my live rig. But I don’t know about using a rack unit. I currently have just the one 6g15 and tape echo into a single amp. I’m wondering if I could achieve the pseudo stereo effect with the reverb if I add another amp and go through the stereo maker pedal

Guitarist for Black Valley Moon & Down By Law

I've used this pedal with great success.
Left output into first amp.
Right output into second amp.
Put the DUBS switch to "1".
All 3 knobs to 12 o'clock.
(Effect knob can go past 12 for more separation.)

Several good YOUTUBE videos demonstrate it.

Hi Sam! David Hineline, from the Kahuna Kings, uses one. I'm not sure if he's here on SG101. If not, you could message him on Facebook. Here's a link to a FB photo of his rig, with mention of the Surfy Steromaker. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10224630303002363&set=gm.10158437282557511&idorvanity=2226412510

Bob

Hi Robbie! Thanks for the thinking of me and I've been lurrking but not doing any comments as my schedule has been insane.

I use my StereoMaker all of the time for both surf and through my Marshalls.

I just posted the new video from my side project which was recorded through the StereoMaker directly to two Surfy bears and two Quilters then directly to the board panned left and right.

Interesting pedal. Does surfy bear ever miss?!

Is this essentially the same thing as surfybear stereo maker?

Never owning a stereomaker, I'm not qualified to answer that question.
There's many videos of both on YouTube so you can hear their differences, if any.

From our website surfyindustries.com: (SurfyBear is not the name of the company, SurfyBears are the reverbs only Smile )

An ABY pedal typically receives the signal from a guitar or other instrument and splits it into two outputs. The StereoMaker is fully buffered and packed with features like: soft touch JFET switching, transformer isolated outputs, pseudo stereo effects, 180 degrees phase reverse and ground lift.

In STEREO mode the width and volume controls are enabled to optimize a pseudo stereo sound. The PAD switch makes it possible to attenuate line level signal to instrument level. Also the StereoMaker can be used as a direct box to convert unbalanced to balanced signals becoming a usefultool for keyboard players and recording studios.

PSEUDO STEREO EFFECT (Y)
A simulated stereo effect is generated using analog complementary comb filters. This unique implementation makes it possible to simulate the mixture of direct and reflected sound waves in a room in a very realistic way. This effect is 100% analog and safe to mix back into mono, no side effects.

OUT-OF-PHASE SIGNALS
Sometimes reverse phase effects can occur resulting in a "non-distinct", "hollow sound". The reason might be that two guitar amps has been used with different number of gain stages. The StereoMaker has a built-in 180 degrees polarity reverse circuit to phase-match amps. Just pull the output plug half way out to get the reverse phase.

Ted, this is one of the setups I use the SM for. The right and left cabs are fired with the two Marshall DSL 40's after the chain runs through a delay unit into the SM and split far left and right. The Center cab gets a dry signal from the 100-watt head. This produces a moving wall of sound. The SM is a fantastic device for a multi-amp stereo split and literally the only device I use that is always on no matter what type of music I play.
