May Birthdays 
My wife recently went to New Zealand and spent several weeks travelling there. She wanted to bring me back some NZ surf, so she stopped at a record store and inquired within. The clerk recommended a double CD to her: "Golden Guitar: The Peter Posa Anthology."
There's not much info floating around about him, but I found a few articles from NZ sources (such as https://nzmusician.co.nz/features/peter-posa-picking-through/). He passed away in 2019.
His music has a lot in common with surf - tones, tasteful use of the whammy and occasional heavy drip reverb - but I'm not sure I'd call it true surf. He reminds me a lot of the Ventures, but even Les Paul in a lot of ways. He definitely has a sound, but I'd call him more a wide-ranging instrumental guitarist than a straight surf artist. No matter what, his music is a lot of fun to listen to and I'm really enjoying this compilation my wife found.
One thing I found interesting is his best-selling single, a song called "White Rabbit" (which is not a cover of the Jefferson Airplane song of the same title), is not included on this career-spanning compilation.
After listening to Posa, I just wondered if anybody else had ever heard of him.
