Not sure if a thread like this exists , but what other genres of music do you love just as much as surf?
I myself love :
Led Zeppelin
The Stooges
Mc5
Bauhaus
Tones on Tail
Janes Addiction
Cyprus Hill
Harry Nilsson
And many many more!
What are some of your favorite non surf bands?

I actually come from a Jazz background, and enjoy playing Standards. I’ve got pretty much everything Chet Atkins ever recorded under his name and have spent many an hour working on fingerstyle. I like early ‘60s Rock and Classic Country.

I love Americana and Folk music. I also quite like bluegrass and older country music. I'll also occasionally listen to classic rock and 80s music.

I'm listening to Jellyfish right now. My favorite band is Queen. I also listen to a lot of metal, like Mastodon, Gojira, Slayer, Megadeth, etc. and guitar-forward classic rock like Aerosmith, Led Zep, etc.

Ambient modular music.
I love to play and compose atmospherical music with modular synths.
Just like in a trance.

Patrick,
I could add Neil Young and Crazy Horse to my list as the Live Rust album was a big deal for me when I was learning guitar. I played along with that album a lot. The non Crazy Horse releases were really not my thing.
The others you mentioned are good, but were much more influential to the generation before me (The Baby Boomers). I musically grew up in the 80s, and steered towards current more rock oriented releases.
I did get to hang out with Rich Patterson (The Esquires, Ian and Sylvia’s Great Speckled Bird). We met because USK covered The Esquires’ song “The Man From Adano” on our Surf vs the Flying Saucers album.

Hey Rev,
I have to remember that I'm a Boomer in the midst of the rest of you young bucks! I was a big fan of Ian and Sylvia's Great Speckled Bird.
Rock On!
