I have both a 6G14 clone and 6G14-A clone. They sound very similar, the biggest difference to me is the way the knobs react.

I have a real '62 6g14-A Showman and a 6g14 clone and they sound super different to me. The earlier circuit is more mid rangey and noisy in a great way, and the newer circuit is much cleaner and more glassy. Also I have not noticed a difference in the knobs!

If you want an older more vintage sound, go for the 6g14. If you want to bring more modern with more defined highs and fuller bass, go for the 6g14-A.
