Bought this swamp ash body blank from someone who used to build guitars and is now selling his leftovers. It's beautiful and has been stashed away for 10 years. A steal at 75 euro. My second Jazzmaster body is coming up...!

This is some sweet curvy ash, to be sure.

Maybe it would warrant doing the no-pickguard style build?

You could even get fancy and split the wood and flip one side to get some S-curves in there to sort of echo what's going on with the guitar controls. Like so:

Your design had me thinking all day. But to me the pickguard really finishes the JM look. I will go for a translucent finish. Hoping to find a stain in one of the vintage colours and finish it with clear lacquer or shellac.

What software did you use to make those designs?

Thanks, yes I love it looks to be going fast while standing still. It lay on a shelf for the past 10 years. It weighs 4.4 Kg or 9.7Lbs. I guesstimate the body will be 3.5 Lbs.

I agree with you regarding pickguards. Here's another shot with one included. Obviously this isn't a stock Fender layout and my model is missing the control plate, for some reason.

The program is Sketchup. A marvelous creation!
