In general, though, I've been SUPER impressed with Squiers these days. They've come a long way since my very first electric (a bullet strat that came with a tiny solid state combo amp in like 1994?). My new obsession with Squiers started after I picked up one of those baritone cabronitas because I really wanted a baritone but didn't want to drop a lot of cash on it. I've done a reasonable amount of work on it and installed a bigsby, but overall I was super impressed with the construction/playability/sound. Since then I've grabbed an affinity telecaster, and a Bass VI CV. They're pretty solid after a basic setup and great canvases if you want a project guitar. Then they put out a 12 string jazzmaster and now this?! $349 is super affordable but I reeeeally don't need another guitar atm...or do I?

Seems like a good deal to me. I’d change out that pickguard either way so that’s not an issue. Not a fan of gold hardware on anything.

I am new here but have been a fan of surf music for as long as I can remember. I had my local shop price match the Fender cost and got this in the blue/green color for the $350. Again, I am no expert in surf music, but the guitar seems nice enough to me!

they seemed to be out of stock on fender.com, so i checked in at musician's friend and i got the green/gold one for 331 (and they threw in a genuine fender trem bar for one of my strats). showed up today and i love the sound and feel. i previously had a jmjm that i wanted to love, but never really connected with.

I just finished the upgrades on mine. I upgraded the pickups to Fender Pure Vintage 65. I also changed out the pots and caps to CTS. I changed the pickguard to a dark tortoise and changed the knobs to dome style tele knobs. I'm honestly quite happy with this guitar now!

To me, they are a bit more clear, with slightly better note separation. The highs are a little less brittle as well. It's not a HUGE difference but then the 65s are not a very expensive upgrade.
