This is Eric from The 'Verb. I'm sure Jake has mentioned it a few times, but we ARE going on tour tomorrow. I've got the calendar below as well as some of the bands we're playing with. It should be a great time and we hope that you all can make it. We'll be sporting our new album and fancy new t-shirts.

Don't get me started on it. I spent two months straight trying to get SOMETHING set up for the 7th. In that time span, I sent nearly thirty un-replied e-mails and made more than twenty unreturned calls.
In other words, f*ck booking agents around here.

Not only that but a so. cal. band just played some shows in Nor. cal.
And a few surf fans and no other bands went to show support.
What up with SF indeed?

There are few "surf" fans in San Francisco. There are fans of bands. Since Dirt went off the air we have no central point, when the heart was removed the body died. There a few clubs who have interest in garage, much less surf and don't promote shows when they do happen. Other clubs like to have tribute bands play. Furthermore, San Francisco is a very small town- 7 x 7 miles.

Ferenc is right, but The TomorrowMen aim to change that, right Tony?

I guess booking agents play into it too, since I don't think Phil Dirt had much to do with us...I just remember playing to a packed Kilowatt and being in heaven. To us, from Portland, a good reception in SF was the ultimate. Dave Kaplan, the booking agent at Kilowatt, always had a full house whenever we played there. Now that I think of it, Bottom of the Hill and Covered Wagon were never as good. The best east bay show we ever played was a house party at Berkeley. It wasn't a frat party-International House or something similar. Good party.

Those days have passed Ted. The club and music scene in S.F. took some very bad hits around the time of the dotcom boom/bust.
I can go off on this at length... maybe one of the moderator dudes want to spin this off into a new thread (our of respect for The 'Verb's tour thread). Maybe call the new thread, "How to kill a thriving music scene, all it takes is money"
Jake- different Kaplan.
Danny- good luck!

It would be so hypocritical for me to complain about this thread going off topic. And whatever brings more visitors to the news of our tour is fine by me.
I'm sure I'll see 5% of the people who live in the area at our shows!

Yep, Bill's right on that. We ended up with nothing for the Longboards' tour either.

You snappy gents are off to a great start.
I've seen The 'Verb quite a few times this summer, but last night was the best. Very polished, HI-Energy, tighter than... something that's really tight. (post show Chaos Jam notwithstanding!!! Although there were some hilarious moments! )
If they're performing in a town near you, line I-5 with "We Love The 'Verb" signs, go to their shows, and buy their CD and a T-shirt. And if they're NOT performing near you buy their swag on-line.
Have a great tour amigos, fix those taillights, don't make Jake laugh or sneeze and do the Northwest proud!
